Comitted to excellence in breeding hungarian Pumi and HUngarian kuvasz
Our Policy
This policy outlines the health guarantee, non-breeding contract, return/take-back policy, and the responsibilities of both the buyer and breeder. It represents the principles of ethical breeding practices, ensuring transparency and fostering a long-lasting, positive relationship between Szabo Kennel and our puppy families.
1. Health Guarantee
At Szabo Kennel, we are committed to the health and well-being of our puppies. We provide the following health guarantee for all puppies sold:
Health Guarantee Coverage: The puppy is guaranteed to be free from hereditary or congenital defects for the first 24 months of life. This includes, but is not limited to, genetic conditions such as hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia, and other life-threatening hereditary disorders. Our health guarantee is backed by science, as every puppy will be screened for over 270 genetic diseases. If a condition is identified by a licensed veterinarian within the health guarantee period, the puppy may be returned for a full refund or replacement with a comparable puppy, based on availability.
Vaccination & Deworming: All puppies will be vaccinated and dewormed according to the standard veterinary protocols before leaving Szabo Kennel. The buyer will receive a vaccination and health record, which must be maintained for any future health concerns.
Exclusions: This health guarantee does not cover conditions arising from neglect, improper care, injury, or accidents. It also does not cover conditions that are caused by poor diet, lack of exercise, or improper veterinary care once the puppy leaves Szabo Kennel.
2. Non-Breeding Contract
To promote ethical breeding practices, all puppies sold from Szabo Kennel are sold with a Non-Breeding Contract unless otherwise stated in writing. This agreement ensures the following:
Spay/Neuter Requirement: The buyer agrees to spay or neuter the puppy by 24 months of age. Proof of this procedure must be provided to Szabo Kennel.
Non-Breeding Contract: The puppy is sold solely as a companion animal. Under no circumstances is the puppy to be bred, or used for breeding purposes.
3. Return/Take-Back Policy
Szabo Kennel values the lifelong well-being of the animals we breed and are committed to assisting in any circumstances where the buyer may no longer be able to care for the dog. Our return/take-back policy is as follows:
Return/Take-Back Conditions: If at any time during the puppy's life, the buyer is unable to keep the dog, Szabo Kennel will take the puppy back. We will make every effort to place the dog in a loving home or provide it with appropriate care.
Buyer’s Obligation: The buyer is responsible for notifying Szabo Kennel if they are unable to keep the dog, and to arrange for the dog to be returned. The buyer agrees to return the dog directly to Szabo Kennel or a pre-designated representative. The buyer agrees to not rehome or resell the dog.
Breeder’s Responsibility: Upon return, Szabo Kennel will ensure the dog receives any necessary veterinary care and will provide support to help transition the dog to a new home, if applicable.
4. Buyer’s Responsibilities
As a buyer, you agree to the following responsibilities in maintaining the health and well-being of your puppy:
Veterinary Care: The buyer must ensure that the puppy receives routine veterinary care, including vaccinations, flea and tick prevention, and any necessary medical treatments. Regular check-ups are important to maintain the puppy's health.
Diet & Exercise: The buyer agrees to feed the puppy a high-quality diet and to provide appropriate exercise and socialization to ensure proper development and mental well-being.
Spay/Neuter Compliance: The buyer must comply with the spay/neuter requirement outlined in the Non-Breeding Contract, and provide proof of the procedure by the required age.
Contact with Breeder: The buyer agrees to maintain contact with Szabo Kennel throughout the puppy’s life, especially in the case of any significant health concerns, and to report on the well-being of the puppy at regular intervals during the first year of life.
Microchip Registration: The buyer agrees to keep the contact information on the microchip up to date.
5. Breeder’s Responsibilities
Szabo Kennel, as the breeder, is committed to the following responsibilities:
Ethical Breeding Practices: We follow the highest standards of ethical breeding. All breeding decisions are made with the health, temperament, and welfare of the dog in mind. We perform health testing and genetic screening on breeding dogs to reduce the risk of hereditary conditions.
Pre-Purchase Support: Szabo Kennel will provide the buyer with all necessary information regarding the puppy’s health, vaccination history, and any other pertinent details before the purchase.
Post-Purchase Support: We will offer support to the buyer regarding care, training, and any other aspects of raising a healthy, well-adjusted dog. Our commitment to the puppy’s well-being extends throughout its lifetime.
AKC and CKC Registration: Szabo Kennel will register and microchip all puppies with both CKC and AKC. (Kuvasz will be CKC only)
